Pro subscribers can purchase a one-time $135 license that lets you use Backdraft's desktop app offline for a full year. It's 25% cheaper than paying monthly for 12 months. At the end of the year, you can renew or switch back to a subscription.

Backdraft supports Ollama, LM Studio, and OpenRouter. You bring your own local models or API keys. Backdraft does not charge for AI usage — you only pay your LLM provider directly. This keeps costs transparent and lets you choose your preferred models.

No. Backdraft is a local-first desktop application built on Tauri. Your code stays on your machine. The only cloud features are optional: Cloud Storage (Pro) and Netlify deployment. LLM requests go directly from your machine to your chosen provider.

Backdraft is available for macOS (Apple Silicon & Intel). Windows and Linux builds are on the roadmap. The app is built on Tauri v2, which supports all major desktop platforms.

Your code is yours. Since Backdraft edits your actual source files on disk, everything stays exactly where it is. Cloud Storage files can be exported before cancellation. There is no lock-in — Backdraft produces standard HTML, CSS, React, and Tailwind code.
